Not to be missed in October


This month in Mexico, several great artistic activities, like the International Cervantine Festival, are planned. Sports events not to miss include Formula 1, and celebrating will include several concerts and Mexican flavors.


October 5 - November 4

Fiestas de Octubre

Guadalajara, Jalisco

In its 53rd edition, the theme of this year’s October Fiestas is myths and legends of the world. There will be ice skating rinks, circus, a wax museum, plus the Tequila Route. Among the guests at the fiesta are Paquita la del Barrio, Molotov and El Gran Silencio.

Tijuana, Baja California


Chihuahua is the guest of honor at the 14th edition of this festival. It is held at the Tijuana Cultural Center, with dance, theater and musical activities. The State of Chihuahua Philharmonic Orchestra, Los Claxons, Enjambre and Fernando Delgadillo are some of the standouts.

La Rompe Piernas

Cholula-Atlixco, Puebla

This cycling route, literally named the Leg Breaker, takes place in the main mountain ranges in the country. This time it goes through the state of Puebla’s volcanic axis: some 93 miles of challenges and incredible landscapes, from the Pyramid in Cholula to downtown Atlixco.


October 10 - 14

Abierto Mexicano de Diseño

Mexico City

Mexico’s top designers show off their production in palaces, cafés and other Downtown spaces, as part of the Mexican Design Open. Check out the best Mexican design at this encounter with the most provocative colors, lines and images in the country.


October 10 - 28

Festival Internacional Cervantino

Guanajuato, Guanajuato

Latin America’s top such event, the International Cervantine Festival is back in Guanajuato. With 518 artists from 31 countries performing, there will be theater, music, dance and the most amazing multimedia presentations. This year’s guest country is India, and the guest state is Aguascalientes. See you in Mexico’s Bajío region.

Festival Internacional Del Paste

Mineral del Monte, Hidalgo

The state of Hidalgo’s version of British miners’ meat turnovers, pastes have their own festival, and other delicious dishes from the region get to join the tasty treat. Don’t miss this tasting banquet or the pairings, guided tours in the paste museum, conferences and concerts.

Carrera Panamericana

Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas – Durango, Durango

This classic car rally covers over 1,988 miles. Starting in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas and going through that state, Oaxaca, Mexico City, Mexico State, Morelia, Guanajuato, Zacatecas and Durango. The Panamerican Race is a celebration of car racing and nostalgia that crosses a good chunk of the country.

Ultra Music Festival México

Foro Pegaso, Ciudad de México

Electronic music lights up the Mexican capital, with celebrated djs like Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Axwell Λ Ingrosso, Carl Cox, Galantis, Illenium, Jamie Jones, Luciano, Marshmello, Streve Angel and others...


October 18 - 20

Baja Culinary Fest

Tijuana, Baja California

The top chefs in Mexico and the world gather at the border city, in one of the best gastro-tourism events in the country. It promises to be three intense days of conferences, cooking workshops and tastings, with the best dishes in the world.


October 20 - 28

Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia

Morelia, Michoacán

Mexico’s most important film festival draws the industry from around the country and the continent. It promotes national talent, offers incentives and opportunities for creators and audiences of the audiovisual art. Take in the latest the big screen has to offer, in the lovely capital city of Michoacán.

Festival Nacional del Globo

Tequesquitengo, Morelos

More than 50 balloons will fly above one of the most flowery cities in Mexico. The National Balloon Festival also features music, artistic activities and delicious cuisine, though the real stars of the event are the beautiful hot-air balloons that sail up into the Morelos sky.


October 25 - November 11

Festival Internacional de Santa Lucía

Monterrey, Nuevo León

For 17 days, the streets of the Nuevo León state capital are filled with music, theater, dance and circus. In this edition of the Santa Lucía International Festival, 38 countries will participate, appearing in 17 forums in the capital and 18 city halls throughout the state.

Fórmula 1 Grand Prix

Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico City

The race is being held for the fourth year in a row and is a total thrill for lovers of speed. Who would want to miss the great international car-racing event, in Mexico’s capital? It’s one of those fiestas that everyone should experience.
